Solar for landed homes · Singapore

Solar panels for Singapore landed homes.

Terrace, semi-detached, bungalow or GCB, on tile, metal or concrete. We design the system, install it with our own crew in three to five working days, and handle the SP Group connection. Running a business instead? See commercial solar.

  • Typical payback 4–6 yrs
  • 30-yr panel power warranty

What you actually get

A system sized to your roof, not to a package.

Every landed roof is different: pitch, orientation, shading, tile type and how much power the house uses during the day. We design around those, then show you the numbers behind the design.

Panels

Tier-1 panels, all-black on request

25-year product warranty and a 30-year power performance warranty, from the manufacturer. We match the module to your roof and budget — all-black if you want the tidiest look.

Inverter

String inverter, 10-year warranty

Converts what the panels make into power your house can use, and reports production to an app on your phone.

Optional

Battery storage

Stores surplus daytime generation for evening use instead of exporting it. Worth it when your evening consumption is high; we'll tell you if it isn't.

What it costs

Every roof is priced on its own merits.

We don't publish a per-watt rate, because two houses on the same street rarely cost the same to install. What we do publish is exactly what moves the number, so nothing in your quote is a surprise.

What moves the price up
  • Roof access. Tight sites and steep pitches need scaffolding and more crew days.
  • Roof type and condition. Tile takes longer than metal; an ageing roof may need work first.
  • Distance to the board. Long cable runs and distribution board upgrades add materials and labour.
  • Extras. Battery storage, EV charging, or a system spread across several roof faces.
What's in every quote
  • Panels, inverter, mounting system and cabling
  • Design, installation and testing by our own crew
  • The SP Group application and commissioning
  • A 30-year return table modelled on your roof
  • Two maintenance visits in the first three years, included as standard
  • The workmanship terms that apply to your system, in writing

Priced against your own bill, not a price list

Send a recent electricity bill with your enquiry. We size the system against what you actually use, then show the payback at a conservative three sun-hours a day — the same figures you can test yourself on our ROI calculator.

Roof types

We've installed on all of them.

Most common

Clay or concrete tile

Panels sit on rails anchored to the rafters, with tiles lifted and reseated around each bracket. The neatest-looking result of the three, and the most fiddly to do properly.

Fastest

Metal roof

Clamps fix directly to the standing seam or profile, so there are no roof penetrations at all. Quick to install and easy to service.

Flat

Reinforced concrete

Panels are tilted on frames to catch the sun and shed rain, ballasted or fixed depending on the slab and wind loading.

How the money works

Three ways a system pays you back.

Solar on a landed home isn't one saving, it's three, and only the first one is obvious.

The power you stop buying

Everything the panels make that your house uses immediately is electricity you no longer buy from SP at about $0.31 a kWh. This is the biggest of the three.

The power you sell back

Surplus generation is exported to the grid and credited to you at the prevailing rate, roughly $0.25 a kWh. Daytime usage habits decide how much of your output lands here.

Renewable energy certificates

Your system's generation also earns certificates, worth around $10 per MWh produced. Small, but it runs for the life of the system.

Why solar works here

Singapore is unusually well suited to it.

We sit close to the equator with strong year-round irradiance, and none of the alternatives scale on an island this size.

A low-risk return

The savings come off a bill you already pay, every month, for decades. There's no tenant, no market and no counterparty involved.

A hedge against tariffs

Electricity prices move with fuel costs and inflation. Every unit you generate is a unit those increases can't touch.

Almost no upkeep

No moving parts. Rain does most of the cleaning, and servicing is occasional rather than scheduled around a breakdown.

Roof space you aren't using

The asset is already there. Solar is simply the first thing that's ever paid rent on it.

A cooler roof

Panels shade the surface beneath them, which lowers the temperature the roof structure sees through the day.

The practical renewable

Wind is too slow here and the country is too small for tidal or nuclear. On a Singapore rooftop, solar is the one that works.

How a home system works

Grid-tied, or grid-tied with a battery.

Most homes

Grid-tied system

Panels feed your house first. Anything you don't use in the moment is exported to the grid and credited to your bill. It's the most cost-effective way to go solar in Singapore, and the simplest to maintain.

One thing to know: for safety, a grid-tied system shuts down during a power cut.

Optional

With energy storage (ESS)

A battery holds the surplus your house makes during the day so you can use it at night, instead of exporting it and buying power back later.

Worth it if your evening consumption is high or you want backup during outages. We'll model it both ways and show you the difference before you decide.

From enquiry to switch-on

What the process looks like.

Most of the elapsed time is paperwork and equipment lead time rather than work on your roof. The install itself is three to five working days.

  1. Feasibility check

Send your postal code and a recent bill. We look at your roof from satellite imagery and tell you whether it's worth a visit.

  2. Site survey

We measure the roof, check shading, access and your distribution board, and photograph everything we'll need for the design.

  3. Proposal

System size, panel layout, fixed price and a 30-year return table for your roof. Ours assumes 3 sun-hours a day.

  4. Installation

Our own crew, on site for 3 to 5 working days. Payment is staged: 50% on confirmation, 40% on panel delivery, 10% on commissioning. If that split does not suit you, say so — it is negotiable.

  5. Connection & handover

We submit the SP Group application, commission the system, and show you the monitoring app before we leave.

Questions homeowners ask

The things worth knowing before you commit.

How much roof space do I need?

Roughly 2 square metres per panel, and a 490 W panel takes about that. A 16 kWp system is around 33 panels, so about 66 square metres of usable roof facing a sensible direction. Most semi-detached homes have enough; terraces are tighter and often end up around 8 to 12 kWp.

Does solar work in Singapore's weather?

Yes, and the cloud cover is already in our numbers. We model at three sun-hours a day, which is a conservative figure for Singapore, so an overcast month doesn't break the maths. Panels produce less on a dark day, not nothing.

What maintenance does it need?

Very little. Rain does most of the cleaning here. Two maintenance visits are included in the first three years; after that a service visit is charged per trip. Dirty panels in this climate typically lose a few percent of output, so an occasional clean pays for itself.

Will the panels damage my roof?

Done properly, no. On tile we lift and reseat tiles around each bracket; on metal we clamp to the profile without penetrating it. We inspect the roof's condition at the survey, and if it needs repair or is near the end of its life we'll say so before quoting.

What happens during a power cut?

A standard grid-tied system shuts down when the grid goes down, for the safety of anyone working on the lines. If you want power during an outage you need a battery with backup capability, which we can quote separately.

Is a battery worth it?

Only if you use a lot of power in the evening. Otherwise you're paying for storage to avoid exporting at $0.25 and buying back at $0.31, and the gap rarely justifies the cost. We'll model it both ways and show you.

What if I sell the house?

The system stays with the property, and the manufacturer warranties transfer with it. A system with years of production records behind it is a selling point, not a complication.

What covers the installation work itself, not the panels?

Panel and inverter warranties come from the manufacturer. The workmanship on our side is separate, and the terms that apply to your system are written into your proposal rather than left as a claim on a website. Ask us what yours covers before you sign anything.

How long do the panels last?

The panels carry a 25-year product warranty and a 30-year power warranty, which guarantees a minimum output percentage over that period. Inverters are the shorter-lived component, with a 10-year warranty and a typical replacement somewhere between year 12 and 15.

Find out what your roof would return.

Send your postal code and a recent electricity bill. You'll get a feasibility check first, and a fixed-price proposal with your own 30-year return table after the site visit.
